Data Collection Forms were created to allow you to collect information from your customers to be stored alongside the invoice. The data entered by the customer gets stored as "metadata" which can be useful in many ways.
Here are some use-cases for Data Collection Forms:
- Terms and Conditions: if you want to ensure that your customer agrees to terms of sale or service, you can create a required checkbox which requires the customer to confirm they accept the terms prior to payment.
- Join a Mailing List: if you have a newsletter for customers, you can collect an email address and confirm whether the customer wishes to sign up to the mailing list. This data is passed back to you via webhooks so you can automate the signup process.
- Obtain Customer Information: you could collect personal details such as their name, address or date of birth.
